How to Install & Use Your AG Mobile Presets!

Installation:

  1. Download the Lightroom Mobile app if you haven’t already, and have it open and ready to go

  2. If you aren’t able to access Google Drive from a browser on your phone, you’ll want to download the Google Drive app, too (just so you can get the files, and then you can delete it again)

  3. Open each mobile preset file, one at a time, from inside the folder you received in an email—each preset must be installed to your LR app individually

  4. Tap the “…” (ellipses) in the top right of your phone screen to access the “Open With” command, and then find your Lightroom Mobile app

  5. Tap “Launch with Lightroom”

  6. Once the file has downloaded, it will display as a thumbnail inside your Lightroom Library. Tap it to open

  7. Select the “…” again, and tap “Create Preset” (you’ll need to name it after the preset you selected from Drive)

  8. Now you can use the preset anytime by scrolling to the end of your toolbar and tapping “Presets”!

Applying the Presets:

  1. Open the LR app and tap your Library

  2. To upload a new image, tap the image and “+” icon in the bottom right corner (highlighted in blue)

  3. Upload your image

  4. Scroll along the bottom toolbar until you reach the end, where you have a “Presets” option

  5. Tap through the AG presets until you find one close to the look you want

  6. Tap the checkmark at the bottom of the screen when you’re ready to make manual edits

  7. Make adjustments to the preset with tools like Light, Color, and Detail

  8. Tap the checkmark when you’re done editing

  9. Export to Camera Roll! (Icon is in the middle of the row of options in the top right of the screen.)

Lightroom Quirk: Adjusting Your White Balance While Using Presets

If you have the AG Desktop Presets, you may be in the habit of adjusting something called your white balance before ever applying a preset.

On Lightroom Mobile, you actually need to do these steps in reverse! You should apply your AG preset before adjusting your white balance, because if you don’t, you’ll actually need to do it twice.

What is white balance?

White balance is the color balance overall for your photo—it’s how warm (orangey) or cool (blue-ish) it is, and whether it’s got any sort of tint to it that may need to be adjusted in order for it to look intentional, normal, or correct.

In Lightroom Mobile, after you’ve applied your preset, you can correct your white balance by going to Color in the bottom toolbar, and then either manually adjusting your temperature and tint, or using the eyedropper tool to identify a true-white area of the photo from which to auto-balance the image.
